Its evil, its loud, its scary and its GOOD! Metal in all its forms is my music of choice. The louder the better. Anything loud, from Black, to Hardcore, to Death, to Grind, to shitty knock offs like rap rock just gets me going. I'm not a N*Suck kind of girl. In my Music Space, I had to give Metal along with Gothic, Industrial, and all other heavy forms of music its own space. I can't live without it, so it needs its own little shrine.
I've grown up worshiping at the altar of metal. When I was but a wee little girl, I had a friend named Kristen Stone who lived next door. She was three years older than me and had six brothers who (when I was two) ranged in age from seven to twenty one. They thought it was really funny to play Metallica, Slayer, and Anthrax for the wee little girlies. (These are also the boys that got me to watch horror flicks before I was talking. As you can see, its had an effect on me.)
But as much as my parents hated it, I benefited from what the Stone boys thought of as amusement. They helped branch my musical tastes out from the usual shit kids listen to to heavy music that I wouldn't have found until I was older. MTV was banned in my house and so was WAAF, the local Active Rock station. I spent hours planted in front of the TV or the boombox, soaking up the 'wicked tunes' the boys played.
Here is what I mean... 'Ride the Lightning' by Metallica came out when I was three. I don't remember this, but I have heard this story growing up my whole life. Apparently, I spent the weeks leading up to the album release hoarding pennies and nickels. When the older Stone boys where going to go to the record store at midnight to get the album, I came trundling up with a sack full of change and asked them to bring me back a copy of the album. They thought it was so cute that they bought me the LP.
